"I wish that I could, but I’m so close to finishing season one of ‘Damages’, and I made this, like, amazing cashew stir-fry for the week, so I’m actually pretty booked."

"I need support. Me! The almost 40-year old pregnant woman with the surprise baby on the way and the husband with lung cancer who disappears for hours on end and I don’t know where he goes and he barely even speaks to me anymore with the moody son who does the same thing and the overdrawn checking account and the lukewarm water heater that leaks rusty looking crap and, and is rotting out the floor of the utility closet and we can’t even afford to fix it but OHH, I see, now I am supposed to go ‘Hank, please what can I possibly do to further benefit my spoiled, kleptomaniac, bitch sister who somehow always manages to be the center of attention, cuz God knows, she is the one with the really important problems."

someone on my dash mentioned moon cycles when cora and peter talked about their and dereks age (cora said derek was 15 and peter said 17 when he met paige, right?), so I did a thing.
if we assume wolfs measure their age in moon cycles (28 days = 1 month), rather than in calendar years (~30,5 days = 1 month), a derek at the (human) age of 15 years and 6 months would be called “15” by standard, but in moon cycles he would already be 16 years and 10 months old, so basically peters “17” would be more or less accurate, too.
which would also answer Jeff’s cryptic “Derek is older than you think”: because at the human age of exactly 23 calendar years (for easier reference let’s say derek was exactly 16 calender years when the fire happened, S1 played 6 years after that and now it’s 2 half seasons / 1 year later, so 16+6+1=23) he was already 25 “moon cycle years” old (minus a few days), and at the human/calendar age of 23 years and 6 months he would be a little over 25 years and 6 months in moon cycles.
which makes our current derek about 2 years “older than we think” - but only in “wolf years”.
PS: yes, I’m bored.
ETA: assumed year = 12 months for human and wolf calculations. if wolf years are measured in less than 12 months per year it would make all of them a lot more older, though.

"If you’re having a hard time because you like something that maybe a lot of other people don’t, know that when you grow up, no one cares. It’s so great. I call it like a fish bowl to an ocean. There are too many people to keep track of for everyone to judge.
